Juvéderm is hyaluronic acid facial filler that adds volume to your skin and can restore your appearance to a more youthful time in your life. Like Restylane and Belotero, injections work well to smooth and improve:
How Juvéderm Works
The volume that Juvéderm provides helps lines, wrinkles, and folds to become less prominent. The injections replace the hyaluronic acid and tissue volume that your body loses as you age. In the process, the injectable dermal filler also improves your skin’s elasticity and supports the structure of your skin.
How is Juvéderm different from Restylane?
While Juvéderm is a smooth gel dermal filler similar to Restylane, Juvéderm’s patented Hylacross technology produces a gel hyaluronic acid that flows smoothly, providing for treatment results that can last up to a year in some patients (or even longer in certain locations). The Hylacross technology improves the products durability which results in less frequent treatment sessions over time.
Juvéderm’s hyaluronic acid is synthetic, and does not come from animal sources. It is very safe since the substance is already produced in your body. Therefore, no allergy testing is necessary.
Your Juvéderm Treatment
The injections take only 15-30 minutes in most cases, and you can go home immediately. We provide a topical anesthetic and a mild local anesthetic along with Lidocaine in the injections themselves to improve comfort in the treatment areas. Please allow 45 minutes to 1 hour for your treatment session.
After Your Juvéderm Injections
Some of the effects of your injections will be evident right away, but you will continue to see improvement over the next 3-4 weeks.
Juvéderm injections last 4-12 months, but a total of two treatments can extend the results for 1-2 years in many cases. In certain locations such as the midface we have seen Juvéderm last even longer!
Like other dermal fillers, you may experience some mild bruising, redness, soreness, and inflammation for up to a week after your treatment. You should avoid strenuous exercise for about 48 hours, and you will need to wear sunscreen for a period of time afterward since you will be more susceptible to sun burn. Avoid touching the area or the application of skin products for six hours after injection.
Please do not take aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, or blood thinners for at least 7-10 days before any injection procedures. Please consult with your primary physician prior to discontinuing any medically prescribed medications.
Please avoid the following for 7-10 days before your appointment:
