Radiesse, an injectable dermal filler used for wrinkle reduction and removal, targets areas where there are lines, wrinkles, folds, or scars, creating a smoother, more youthful appearance.
It is especially effective for:
How Radiesse Works
Most lines and wrinkles are due to a loss of collagen and facial volume during the aging process, and Radiesse actually stimulates your body’s production of natural collagen for months after your treatment.
Collagen is necessary for a youthful appearance, we have it in abundance when we are young, but it begins to break down as we age, causing a loss of volume and making the skin less elastic.
As Radiesse accelerates the growth of collagen in your body, it helps to build the structure of your skin so that sagging and hollowed areas are minimized.
A calcium hydroxyapatite-based facial filler, Radiesse is a thicker injectable that reaches a deep layer of the skin. Calcium hydroxyapatite is the principal mineral found naturally in all of your bones, so the product is very well tolerated by the body. These attributes make it ideal for more prominent wrinkles and folds, so the injections are well-tolerated. No allergy tests are necessary.
Your Radiesse Treatment
Radiesse injections include Lidocaine for a numbing effect, but we also provide a topical anesthetic for extra comfort. The procedure can take less than a half hour depending on the number of areas you wish to treat. Please allow an hour for our office visit.
After Your Radiesse Injections
No recovery period is necessary after Radiesse. You can return to all of your normal activities immediately.
You will see the results within a week, but improvement will continue for several months, as your body produces more collagen. One treatment can last as long as a year.
Many people experience some swelling and bruising for a couple of days. Sometimes, small lumps appear at the injection areas for a few days, but these are not noticeable and will go away on their own.
Radiesse Related Adverse Events and Side Effects Include:
Be sure to wear sunscreen for a period of time after your Radiesse treatment because the injections will make you more prone to sunburn. As with all injectables, avoid taking aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications for 10 days before and 48 hours after your treatment. Please consult your primary physician prior to discontinuing any medically prescribed medications.
