Xeomin® Aesthetic injections are another anti-aging treatment similar to BOTOX but with specific properties that may make it the best choice for you. Like BOTOX, Xeomin is a treatment for lines and wrinkles that are caused by muscle contractions due to repeated facial expressions.
The Botulinum A toxin used in Xeomin is a very low dose. The naturally occurring protein Botulinum-A protein has been used for more than 25 years for the treatment of muscle spasms and contractions.
Dr. Holds’ practice was chosen as a study site for Xeomin, using it in blepharospasm treatment. Ms. Carr has worked with Dr. Holds as his cosmetic clinical nurse for since 2001 and has a great deal of experience administering Xeomin injections.
The differences between BOTOX, Xeomin, and the other Botulinum A toxin injection product, Dysport, are subtle but significant. A great deal has to do with the way the medications are stored, mixed, and used. This is why the experience and skill of your practitioner is so important. Ms. Carr has over 12 years of experience as a nurse injector. She would be happy to share the benefits of Botulinum A Toxin injections.
Xeomin is a neuromodulator that can improve or correct:
- Frown lines
- Crows feet
- Lines around the eyes
- Creases on the forehead
- Lines on the upper lip
- Dimples and lines on the chin
How Xeomin Works
Xeomin temporarily reduces the activity of muscles that are causing wrinkles. This reduction in activity causes the wrinkles to relax and soften.
Your Xeomin Treatment
Xeomin treatments take no more than 15 minutes in most cases. Please allow 30-45 minutes for your session.
We can apply a topical anesthetic to numb the injection areas. The needle is fine, so any discomfort is minimal. We can also use ice or a cooling blower if you wish.
After Your Xeomin Injections
The effects of Xeomin are mostly immediate and last for 3-6 months. Results start to appear 1-2 days after your injection with subtle improvement over 14 days.
Almost all of your normal activities can be resumed immediately. Please refrain from using make-up for 6 hours after injection.
You can prevent swelling by not lying down for the first few hours after your treatment. Refrain from strenuous exercise for at least two days, and do not undergo facials or massage treatments that involve the face or a face cradle for at least a week.
Some people experience no soreness or bruising after Xeomin injections, but others find that they have these effects to a mild degree for a few days. Please do not take aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, or blood thinner for at least a week before your injections.
