Our spa services consist of a variety of chemical peels to improve the health and look of your skin. Chemical peels are skin rejuvenation and skin resurfacing treatments that can improve the texture of your skin, reduce minor lines and wrinkles, even skin tone, and improve acne and scars.
While most people get chemical peels on the face, the peels can be performed on other parts of the body, too. Some people have chemical peels on their chest and back, where the skin often suffers from acne, sun damage, and other issues.
Chemical peels that work on the outer layer of skin called the epidermis are often called “superficial peels.” Deeper peels work on a layer of skin under the epidermis called the dermis. These stronger peels provide more dramatic results but also cause the skin to flake for several days after the treatment. Deeper and more aggressive peels involve a risk of scarring or discoloration of the skin.
Glycolic Acid Peels
Glycolic acid peels are superficial peels that are alpha-hydroxy formulas. They exfoliate the epidermis, leaving the skin smooth, soft, and glowing with more even tone.
These peels take only a few minutes, and they are effective for sun damaged and acne-prone skin, as well as dry skin. Glycolic acid is well-tolerated by most skin types. The majority of people receive a regimen of about four glycolic acid peels every two weeks. Maintenance peels at every 4-6 week intervals can be helpful for long term results.
TCA 30% Peels
A deep, aggressive peel that affects the skin’s dermis layer, TCA stands for Trichloroacetic Acid.
It can improve the texture, color, and tone of skin with moderate to severe imperfections.
It is also safe for use by people with darker skin and can improve acne and acne scars, as well as hyperpigmentation and dark spots. It can have a slight firming effect and encourage your body to produce more collagen.
Skin Medica Peels
(Avoid if you are allergic to Aspirin or Salicylic Acid)
Skin Medica makes three different types of peels across the spectrum- superficial, moderate, and deep.
- Illuminize Peel
This is a great superficial peel for people who have never had a chemical peel before, it is a quick treatment that can improve fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, skin texture, clarity, and color. It also brightens and tightens the skin. Illuminize is mild and causes little to no visible skin exfoliation (peeling.)
- Vitalize Peel
A ”medium strength” peel among the Skin Medica Peel Systems, Vitalize is best for mild to moderate skin imperfections because it works on the dermis layer of the skin. It can improve fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, acne and acne scars, hyperpigmentation, melasma, and dark spots.
Vitalize also encourages your body to produce more collagen and thickens the epidermal lining of the skin. These effects help your skin to look younger and healthier.
You will probably experience some peeling of the skin for 2-5 days. Most people need 3-6 peels with a peel performed every 3-4 weeks. Shedding begins generally 24-48 hours after the peel. Some individuals experience no visible exfoliation and the level of shedding can vary from peel to peel.
- Rejuvenize Peel
This peel is the strongest of the Skin Medica chemical peel line. It reaches a deeper dermis layer of the skin, which provides the greatest possible exfoliation.
Rejuvenize can improve fine lines and wrinkles, as well as moderate to severe sun damage, acne and acne scars, hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and melasma.
Moderate peeling of the skin usually continues for 2-5 days and 3-6 peels are generally needed every 4-6 weeks. Peeling generally begins 24-48 hours after the peel. The amount of shedding varies in intensity with each peel.
Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical, gentle exfoliation of the outermost layer of dead surface cells. Our system utilizes stainless steel diamond-tipped handpieces which provide a more comfortable experience for the patient. Through this process of exfoliation, the deeper layers of skin are triggered to increase cell generation resulting in a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance. Overall, this procedure can help with the improvement of light scars, blotchiness and sun damage. Additionally, the removal of dead cell build-up allows for skincare products to penetrate more effectively therefore optimizing results. Treatment is recommended at 4-8 week intervals.
